Background:
Hijikata Toushiro is the chain-smoker vice-commander of special police force, Shinsengumi. He is greatly respected by his subordinate and is renowned for being the brain of Shinsengumi. His temper earns him the name, “Demonic Vice-Commander”.
He sees Sakata Gintoki as his biggest rival and match him in remotely everything even in a game of rock, paper, and scissors. He owns a cursed sword, which he managed to break when he protects his commander, Kondo Isao.
Inside the Shinsengumi, his position, not to mention his life is in constant danger from his second-in-command, Sougo Okita, who is extremely jealous of him. Even though he sustains injuries at Okita’s attempts, he still considers him one of his close friends.
Hijikata has a peculiar liking to mayonnaise and would be seen emptying a whole bottle on top of his food. Even with this weird obsession, girls dig him like chocolate bars!
