She now acts as messenger between Sand Village and Leaf Village. Spending most of her time with Shikamaru. If she thinks that this wouldn’t cause speculations, she is dead wrong particularly is the nosy Naruto is in the vicinity. Naruto even asks the two if they're on a date and both immediately deny it.
The denial is useless when Temari saves Shikamaru by defeating Tayuya during the Sasuke retrieval arc and does not hesitate to lecture Shikamaru about his complaining and laziness.
