Haruhi is an inbred androgyny and an inborn host. She’s a highly intelligent yet underprivileged girl lost in the world of rich bored kids, called Ouran High School.
One afternoon while looking for a decent place to study, she stumbles upon the school’s famous club and breaks their overprice vase. She is then force to work her way out of the debt, first as the club’s slave and later on as host after seeing her innate charm.
Her physical asexuality made it easy for her to pass off as a high school male student but really she doesn’t care about that part of her identity. Truth is, this trait of hers is in her genes, having a father that is a drag queen.
Haruhi’s destitution is a constant source of curiosity for the other hosts. Her plainness is considered unique and refreshing. She’s at times reserved but is very observant.
Drawback is that there are times when her brain cells take a nap and she becomes really dense. She inadvertently breaks her classmates heart at middle school when the poor guy tried to confess his feelings.
